Dr. Ewa Kalinowska MD designs a special glass hood for patients.
From Scott Herr of Indianapolis:
"I want to nominate Dr. Ewa Kalinowska MD, an ER doctor who has been putting her life on the line ever since the COVID-19 outbreak. She designed a special glass hood to go over the head of patients to protect medical staff from infection especially if they have to intubate them where risk of transmission of COVID19 is most high. Her design was shared on the ERDocs FB community and has been replicated to help other hospitals protect medical staff and other patients around the US. She has been serving the health and well-being of patients and staff at hospitals in Iowa and Indiana. She often works many 12 hour shifts in a row and has been isolated away from family and friends and is responsible for so many people's health and safety. Her efforts have saved countless lives and prevented the spread of COVID19. She loves to listen to inspirational podcasts and loves to play cheesy video games on her iPad. I would like to tag Dr. Kalinowska as a First Responder Hero!"
My daughter is a front line worker who is sacrificing everything to serve the patients at her facility, it does however make our relationship very difficult to maintain as I am a cancer survivor with a very compromised immune system...
My coworkers and I are continuing to provide chemotherapy treatment to pediatric patients. At this time we are only allowing one caregiver with the patient per visit...
With the uncertainty of COVID-19, we are putting ourselves on the frontline caring for others. We are praying we don’t bring the virus home with us to our own family...
